Aaltra is a strange title for a strange film. It is a French film released here this year that should last a week in a vo cinema in Madrid and no more.
is written, directed and starring the two types of photo, Kervern Delépine and that what little they have done together have almost full. It is said to have returned to make another film called Avida, which is dated this year.
The film is digitally retouched black and white, with occasional negative saturation number. That black and white is a resource, I agree, but be very careful with this. I think that if the use of this technique is used to cover problems of script is like painting a piece of crap with gold leaf, behind now that if there is chicha, go ahead with the seriousness of black and white. And say that yes, some passages are very nice, photo gallery hear.
other hand, I will talk briefly about the history. It is here that the two protagonists, two neighbors who hate each other for problems of coexistence, simultaneously suffer an accident that leaves them paralyzed at the very beginning. There
begins the true story of two enemies who wish the death of another, which by dint of living and the odd chance they help each other.
I spend many mishaps, from thefts to beatings, and many other things that are joining in the disability. Once
"united" begins a life of rogues who do not find it ironic truth. Such situations are absurd, puerile, that leaves the viewer looking to spend the silences between a car leaves them on the road and another picks them up.
And I forgot to say a fundamental thing, is that this movie is paid for in part by Kaurismaki. That said, you know what to expect.
lasts about 85 minutes and can be seen, even with that absurd final say Fuck you, what kidding. And while talk of black humor all critical to ignore, because the fact that rogues are two invalids, who are bastards by the way, is not relevant to the kind of humor that arises here. Such humor is absurd and simple, wordless. But do not think ironic or cynical humor because it is so meager that goes beyond the event (a flood that isolates, an old impassively watching the motorized cart carried his elderly wife, etc.).
I do not mean that all this is a disadvantage, but tell that to prepare for a session in French Kaurismaki.
The film is original and gets into issues that are still taboo for many. That courage and above all, love.
Note: there is a freak moment in which a Finnish (because they travel to Finland) starts singing in a pub (there was a contest) the song Sunny. Until that happens, the jury (a bunch of tough guys) look without blinking at the guy who is about saying I love you.
