A veterinary student without financial resources, Jacob, meets and falls in love with Marlena, the star of a circus from another era. They discover the beauty that exists under the circus tent, and begin to connect through the feeling that they raised a very special elephant. When the novel Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen was published in 2006, became a huge hit, staying for 12 weeks on the bestseller list of The New York Times.
